PETROSTEP® GQ-22

Viscoelastic surfactants (VES) provide a polymer-free way to viscosify fluids for a range of oilfield applications, including stimulation treatments and wellbore cleanouts.

Stepan Oilfield Solutions’ PETROSTEP GQ-22 viscoelastic surfactant was designed to provide enhanced thermal stability at temperatures up to 250°F (120°C). Unlike polymer-based viscosifiers, VES systems are resistant to shear degradation and show almost complete recovery of viscosity after being exposed to high shear conditions, allowing for more effective solids suspension and proppant placement in fracturing applications.
